Where the Hairy Things Are

Hairy by Robert Greene

Hairy by Robert Greene

Whilst I may be ambivalent toward hair (as I’m more of a face manchild myself), I always appreciate a beautifully rendered male nude, or even better, a book of them. And I especially appreciateĀ  deviations from yr standard, normatively attractive gay male nude. But perhaps most importantly, I appreciate photographers endorsed by Jerry Saltz. All this to say that Robert Greene’s new book of pictures, published by DUMBO’s own powerHouse books, might be a coffee table necessity. You know, like, right next to yr back issues of Pinups.

And while we’re on the topic of things that I appreciate, here’s another: history. Let’s face it, hair is trendy again. As Ms Vaginal Creme Davis recently noted, the ubiquitous gay signifier of the 90s, the goatee (plus or minus the more risque “flavor saver”), has grown to become this decade’s full beard. But let’s give credit where credit is due. Hair, facial and elsewhere, would be nowhere today if it weren’t for the inimitable Hairy Studs Video. They started it allĀ  in admirable amateur hardcore fashion, but then they disappeared for while. But they’re back again! And uploading new content weekly! So if you’ve sorta moved past pictures and are looking for some hairy movies, then head over to their relaunched site and stay tuned, just like Johnny:
